What is CanDID?
CanDID stands for Canadian Design Info Day, organized by the Department of Design, Faculty of Fine Arts at York University. This one-day event will provide introductory information on the practice of Design as a profession and paths to becoming a professional designer, from high school to university and beyond.
Who should attend CanDID?
If you are studying at grade 10 or above and are interested in exploring a career in Design, you should attend CanDID.
What can I get out of CanDID?
Design as a profession is becoming increasingly attractive to young people. CanDID is designed to help you make an informed decision about a future in Design by introducing design industries in Canada, prospects of design and practice, basic designing tools, skills and knowledge required to stay ahead in the design industry, and choosing the right design program and discipline at university or college. All lectures will be conducted by experienced designers and design educators. A conference bag, light lunch, coffee break, and souvenirs will be provided.
Do I have to enroll in CanDID if I am interested in applying to the York University/Sheridan College Joint Program in Design?
No. Applicants to the York University/Sheridan College Joint Program in Design do not need to enroll in CanDID. This is an independent event organized by the Department of Design at York University to provide participants with information on Design. No credit will be given to participants towards their application to the Program.
Do I have to pay for CanDID?
Yes. Registration fee of $50 (lunch included) is charged to each participant to cover operation costs.
