Department of Visual Arts at York
York University's Department of Visual Arts offers a comprehensive, balanced program of creative work and academic studies, combining scholarly work with practical training in a broad range of artistic media. At both the undergraduate and graduate levels an intensive studio experience in a critical setting defines our program. We emphasize fine art practice rather than applied art or craft training.
Areas of discipline include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital media and time-based. Students may graduate with a BFA, or BA. Students are encouraged to exhibit and curate in the department's galleries as well as in self-initiated sites in downtown Toronto.
